A legal battle involving Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner has taken a new turn after a judge refused their request to keep key details of a private agreement out of the public eye.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied the duo’s plea to seal records related to an alleged 2023 settlement with Ray J. The ruling means that details of the controversial agreement could soon become public.
The judge determined that Kim and Kris failed to provide sufficient evidence that releasing the documents would cause them harm, a key requirement for keeping such records confidential.
The dispute stems from a lawsuit filed by Kim and Kris in October 2025, accusing Ray J of defamation after he allegedly claimed the two were under federal investigation—an accusation they strongly denied. In response, Ray J filed a countersuit, alleging the pair breached a secret 2023 agreement tied to their long-standing controversy over a past sex tape.
In his claims, Ray J alleges he was paid $6 million to remain silent about the tape indefinitely. He further contends that Kim and Kris violated that agreement by discussing the matter during an episode of their Hulu reality show.
Attempting to keep the situation private, Kim and Kris rushed to court seeking to seal the agreement and related documents, arguing that the materials contained highly sensitive and personal information. Their legal team emphasized that the deal was meant to protect all parties and their families from public exposure.
However, Ray J opposed the request—and the court sided with him. The judge ordered that unredacted versions of the documents be filed, potentially exposing the full details of the alleged agreement.
While Ray J maintains that a $6 million payment was part of the deal, the Kardashian family has not publicly confirmed that figure. The case continues to unfold, drawing renewed attention to one of the most talked-about celebrity controversies.#newsafro_
