Hayden Panettiere is sharing more difficult experiences from her time growing up in Hollywood, including an uncomfortable encounter she says happened when she was just 19 years old.
In her new memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, the actress reflects on several troubling moments from her early years in the entertainment industry. Among them is a story involving a “well-respected” Oscar-winning actor and director whom she claims behaved inappropriately toward her at a party.
According to Panettiere, the incident happened as she was preparing to leave the gathering after feeling uneasy during conversations with a group of men. She says the actor approached her and mentioned there was gum stuck to his pants. When she looked down, she realized he had exposed himself instead.
Panettiere described the moment as shocking and confusing, saying she did not know how to react at the time. She explained that she never spoke publicly about the encounter back then because the situation passed quickly and she tried to dismiss it as inappropriate behavior she did not fully understand.
The actress also writes about other difficult experiences she faced while navigating fame at a young age, including emotional struggles and moments where she felt unsupported within the industry.
