A former frontman associated with Spandau Ballet is facing a custodial sentence following his conviction for the rape of one woman and the attempted rape of another.
Ross Davidson, aged 37, who previously performed under the stage name Ross Wild, has appeared in the West End production We Will Rock You and, in 2018, served as lead vocalist for the 1980s band Spandau Ballet.
The jury at Wood Green Crown Court was told that the Aberdeen-born musical theatre performer, songwriter and singer committed the offences in the belief that he was entitled to sexual access “on demand.”
Davidson, of Finchley, north London, denied the rape of a woman in London in March 2015 and the attempted rape and sexual assault of a second woman in Thailand in December 2019, maintaining that the encounters were consensual.
Following more than eleven hours of deliberation, the jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on all counts on Wednesday.
The court further heard that Davidson had previously entered a guilty plea to a charge of voyeurism relating to the December 2019 incident in Thailand, after covertly recorded footage of the complainant while she slept was recovered from his mobile phone.#newsafro_
