A member of the family of the actor and filmmaker, Femi Adebayo, has asserted that his estranged spouse, Omotayo Sanusi, popularly known as Iyan Aladuke, was fully apprised of the factual and financial circumstances that culminated in her eviction from a residential property situated in Lagos State.
The eviction, which has attracted significant public commentary and adverse reactions across social media platforms, was accompanied by allegations suggesting abandonment on the part of Mr. Adebayo. In response, a family representative, Mrs. Taiwo Abdulmalik, has categorically denied such assertions, stating that the eviction arose solely from a bank recovery and foreclosure process rather than from any deliberate or malicious act by the actor.
According to Mrs. Abdulmalik, the subject property was acquired by Mr. Adebayo through a bank-financed loan facility, and the lending institution subsequently initiated foreclosure proceedings following challenges associated with loan repayment. She maintained that Ms. Sanusi was aware of the loan arrangement from inception and had been duly informed of the impending recovery exercise several months prior to the eviction.
She further stated that ownership of the property resided exclusively with Mr. Adebayo and that he continues to service the outstanding loan obligations, including principal and accrued interest.
Mrs. Abdulmalik disclosed that upon the commencement of the foreclosure process by the bank, Mr. Adebayo took steps to ensure that Ms. Sanusi, her family members residing with her, and domestic staff were relocated to a short-let accommodation, the cost of which he reportedly bore in full. She added that he further encouraged his estranged wife to secure a permanent rental apartment of her choosing and assured her of financial support irrespective of the cost involved.
Additionally, it was alleged that in 2022, Mr. Adebayo acquired a parcel of land adjoining Ms. Sanusi’s commercial premises on Muritala Muhammed Way and caused the property to be registered in her name as a form of financial security. Mrs. Abdulmalik claimed that Mr. Adebayo was later taken aback when Ms. Sanusi informed him, shortly after the bank foreclosure, that the land had been sold and the proceeds expended.
Addressing allegations of neglect, Mrs. Abdulmalik asserted that Mr. Adebayo has consistently fulfilled his parental responsibilities, including the provision of monthly upkeep for their son and active involvement in his welfare. She further alleged that Mr. Adebayo expended approximately fifty thousand United States dollars (US$50,000) in the preceding year to facilitate medical treatment for his son in India.
Mrs. Abdulmalik appealed to members of the public to exercise restraint in forming conclusions, emphasizing that the prevailing narrative circulating in the public domain does not present a complete or accurate account of events. She described the dissolution of the marriage as unfortunate and reiterated that no party desires such an outcome.
When approached for comment, Ms. Sanusi declined to respond substantively to the allegations, characterizing the matter as private and personal. She stated that she had not previously granted interviews on the issue and did not intend to do so, noting that while the matter had entered the public sphere, she preferred not to engage further, acknowledging that varying accounts would continue to circulate online.#newsafro_
