Heather Peace, a 49-year-old actress recognized for her portrayal of Eve Sopal-Unwin in the BBC television series EastEnders, has formally disclosed that she has privately undergone a course of treatment for breast cancer.
Via a public statement issued on her official Instagram account, Ms. Peace confirmed that she has completed chemotherapy and expressed a sense of gratitude, stating she feels “very lucky” in light of the recent medical challenges she has faced.
Accompanying a video posted on Sunday, Ms. Peace included a detailed caption, stating: “This video is an important part of my recent journey, which I wanted to share with you.”
Ms. Heather Peace has disclosed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in early October 2023. In a personal statement, she reflected on the months following her diagnosis, describing the experience as a prolonged and challenging journey.
Subsequent to the diagnosis, Ms. Peace underwent surgical intervention and recovery, notably spanning the Christmas period. As of the date of her announcement, she confirmed the completion of her chemotherapy treatment, remarking, “To conclude – I’ve just picked up my medal,” symbolizing the end of this phase of care.
Despite the physical and emotional demands associated with her medical treatment, Ms. Peace continued to fulfil her professional obligations and remained active in her role on EastEnders throughout significant portions of her treatment timeline.
In a video statement released to the public, Ms. Heather Peace appeared while undergoing a wig fitting, an experience she disclosed was necessitated by her ongoing health challenges. She expressed sincere gratitude toward the production team of EastEnders, specifically acknowledging the exceptional support she received from colleagues throughout her treatment.
Ms. Peace remarked: “There have been so many positives,” and extended particular appreciation to the show’s makeup department, stating, “Thank you to the whole EE team for going above and beyond. Particularly our amazing makeup team.” She further credited Alex Rouss for the provision of the original wig and stylist Linda for the precision in its cut, noting that she had felt “totally supported” by the team.
In addition, Ms. Peace paid tribute to her immediate family, offering heartfelt thanks to her wife, Ellie, and their three daughters—Annie, Jessie, and Lola—for their unwavering support, love, and encouragement during this period. She stated, “There have been so many positives… Just trying to appreciate every moment of them.”
