Police operatives attached to the Assakio Division, in conjunction with local vigilante groups, executed a targeted operation against criminal elements at identified hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages, located within the Lafia East Development Area of Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of six (6) individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities and the successful recovery of three (3) victims, comprising two (2) females and one (1) male.
This information was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer for Nasarawa State, Mr. Ramhan Nansel, in a statement made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital, on Friday. According to Mr. Nansel, the rescued victims were unharmed, promptly attended to, and reunited with their respective families.
Mr. Nansel stated that the operation followed a formal complaint lodged on January 7, 2026, reporting the abduction of two (2) females from Angara village, during which an infant was left behind, and the subsequent kidnapping of an additional male in the same locality. Acting on this complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately directed a manhunt for the suspects, culminating in their apprehension and the safe recovery of the victims.
Further, Mr. Nansel confirmed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the alleged offenses and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department pursuant to the Commissioner’s directive, for thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.
