Kelly Clarkson has provided a limited public update regarding her two children in the period following the death of her former husband, Brandon Blackstock, which occurred approximately five months ago.
The 43-year-old recording artist addressed the subject during a question-and-answer segment shared on the official YouTube channel of The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clarkson, who shares daughter River, aged 11, and son Remington, aged nine, with the late Blackstock, was married to him from 2013 until the dissolution of their marriage in 2022.
In response to a viewer-submitted question inquiring about an activity that brings her daily joy, Clarkson stated that she derives comfort from spending time physically close to her children, noting that they are at an age where they retain affection for parental closeness while becoming increasingly independent. She further disclosed that, in light of recent family circumstances, she has permitted her children to sleep in her room more frequently.
Blackstock’s obituary indicated that, prior to his death, he was in a relationship with Brittney Marie Jones, with whom he resided privately in Montana. He was also survived by two children from a previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth—Savannah, aged 23, and Seth, aged 18—and was the stepson of country music artist Reba McEntire.
In earlier remarks made in 2023, Clarkson discussed her approach to supporting her children through their parents’ divorce, emphasizing open communication and emotional honesty. She acknowledged that her children had expressed sadness over the separation and their wish for both parents to reside together, adding that she reassured them of her understanding, given her own experience with divorce, and affirmed that they remain deeply loved by both parents.#newsafro_
