As the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Day, gospel artiste Esther Godwyll took a moment to express her gratitude to God for seeing 2026. Her feelings of thanksgiving are poured into her latest single, Aseda, a heartfelt tribute to God’s unwavering presence in her life.
The release follows her September 2025 single, AI Tivi, and marks the first new offering from the reigning Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Female Vocalist of the Year in the new year. Godwyll attributes her songwriting to the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, drawing inspiration directly from her faith.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz on Monday, January 5, she said, “Aseda is a demonstration of my trust in God’s sovereignty, showcasing my vocal range and emotive delivery. I expect the song to resonate with listeners, reminding them of God’s goodness and faithfulness. I pray it inspires a culture of gratitude, encouraging believers to trust in God’s plan, even in uncertain times.”
Esther Godwyll has steadily established herself as a rising star in Ghana’s gospel scene with notable hits such as I Choose to Praise, Jehovah is Your Name, and Faithful God. Her accolades include TGMA26 Best Female Vocal Performance, a nod for Best New Artiste of the Year at the 2024 Praise Achievement Awards, Best Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2022 Ghana Music Awards UK, and Most Promising Gospel Artiste at the iConic Social Media Lifestyle Awards.
Despite her growing popularity, Godwyll remains committed to her principles, stating that she is not pressured to chase trends that guarantee large followings. She emphasized that gospel concerts should be transformative experiences, not mere entertainment.
“That has been a guiding principle for my ministry, including composing my songs,” she said. “I’m certain Aseda, now available on digital platforms including Boomplay, will inspire and uplift listeners, making it a perfect start to the New Year.”#newsafro_
