Jay-Z has declared a “victory” in a public statement following the dismissal of a civil lawsuit that accused him of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000.
The lawsuit, filed in December by attorney Tony Buzbee, alleged that the 55-year-old rapper and Combs committed the alleged assault after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. However, the case has been formally dismissed by the accuser’s attorney.
In a swift response to the news, Jay-Z—legally known as Shawn Carter—issued a statement on Friday, declaring:
“Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious, and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and was never going anywhere.”
“The fabricated narrative they constructed would be laughable if not for the gravity of the allegations. I would not wish this ordeal on anyone.”
Jay-Z, known for his hit 99 Problems, further expressed the profound impact the lawsuit has had on his family, including his wife, global superstar Beyoncé.
He continued: “The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed.”#newsafro_
