The Los Angeles County District Attorney is expected to file criminal charges against music artist D4vd on Monday, following his recent arrest in connection with the alleged murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, according to sources familiar with the case.
Monday marks a critical legal deadline, as prosecutors must either formally charge D4vd or release him from police custody. Sources indicate authorities are preparing to move forward with charges after months of investigation and mounting pressure from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The artist, whose legal name is David Burke, was taken into custody on Thursday in a high-profile operation carried out by the LAPD. Speaking on the 2 Angry Men podcast, prominent defense attorney Mark Geragos suggested that investigators grew frustrated with delays in prosecutorial action and proceeded with the arrest in an effort to force a decision.
The case has reportedly been under review by the District Attorney’s office for several months. A grand jury was convened as far back as November, and the investigation intensified after authorities discovered Rivas Hernandez’s body in the trunk of a Tesla linked to D4vd more than seven months ago.
According to a senior LAPD source, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ultimately ruled the manner of death a homicide — a determination that may have prompted law enforcement to act.
With the case now squarely in the hands of prosecutors, a charging decision appears imminent.
Attorneys representing D4vd have strongly denied the allegations. In a statement, they said, “The evidence will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and was not responsible for her death.”#newsafro_
