Three brothers, including two of the nation’s top luxury real estate brokers, have been convicted of sex trafficking following a five-week trial that revealed a shocking pattern of abuse in the high-end real estate world. Oren and Alon Alexander, 38-year-old twins, and their older brother Tal Alexander, 39, were found guilty after more than a dozen women testified that the men used drugs and force to sexually assault them, often after impressing them with wealth, lavish trips, and a glamorous lifestyle.
The assaults reportedly took place in upscale settings such as the Hamptons, Caribbean cruises, and Aspen, Colorado, with more than 60 women claiming abuse to prosecutors. While the brothers’ defense attorneys argued that any sexual encounters were consensual and suggested the accusers had faulty memories, the jury sided with the prosecution.
Oren and Tal previously worked at Douglas Elliman before launching their own brokerage, Official, while Alon worked at the family’s private security firm. Beyond the criminal case, the Alexanders face roughly two dozen civil lawsuits, including one by Tracy Tutor, who alleges Oren Alexander drugged and assaulted her in a New York City restaurant bathroom.
Witnesses testified to being incapacitated after receiving drinks from the brothers, feeling paralyzed after minimal alcohol consumption. Victims described encounters initiated at nightclubs, parties, and via dating apps, often followed by trips to luxury destinations. One testified that she met the brothers at a party at actor Zac Efron’s Manhattan apartment before being assaulted later that night.
Prosecutors also introduced text and email messages showing the brothers boasting about their sexual exploits, discussing drugs to lower women’s inhibitions, and even recording assaults. A blog post by the brothers included the chilling line: “It’s not rape if …”
Victims who testified said they were motivated not by money but by a desire to prevent the brothers from harming others. Artist Lindsey Acree described being raped by Tal Alexander in the Hamptons in 2011, saying, “Money is their stick, so you take it away so they can’t hurt people anymore.”
The case has sent shockwaves through the real estate world, exposing long-standing allegations that the Alexanders’ behavior was an open secret among industry insiders.#newsafro_
