The National Films and Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) convened its 5th Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference in Lagos, under the theme: “From Volume to Value: The Future of the Nigerian Motion Picture Industry in the Digital Age.”
The two-day conference assembled actors, producers, directors, scriptwriters, and other industry stakeholders to address opportunities, challenges, and growth strategies within the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood). Panel discussions included topics such as “Growing the Film Audience at Home and Abroad”, “Movie/Content Monetisation”, and “Breaking Down Barriers: The Future of Gender-Equitable Film Narratives”. Participating panelists included Busola Tejumola, Stephanie Linus, Femi Odugbemi, Femi Durojaiye, and Chichi Nworah. NFVCB reiterated its commitment to fostering the development of Nollywood in the digital era.
Industry representatives emphasized the importance of innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity. Bolanle Austen-Peters specifically highlighted the necessity of transitioning from quantity-focused content production to value-driven creative output.
The conference also recognized 23 industry practitioners reaching milestone ages of 50 and 60, including Segun Arinze, Ngozi Ezeonu, Adebayo Tijani, Taiwo Adeleye, Hafiz Bello, Desmond Elliot, Ali Baba, Rita Dominic, Sam Dede, and Eucharia Anunobi.#newsafro_
