Mr. Charlie Sheen, age sixty (60), has disclosed in both his forthcoming book and accompanying Netflix documentary series, aka Charlie Sheen, that he engaged in sexual relations with men during periods of substance use. The disclosure was further publicized in an interview with People magazine, conducted in connection with promotional efforts for the aforesaid projects.
At the Los Angeles premiere of the documentary, Mr. Sheen was accompanied by his former spouse, Ms. Denise Richards, who provided her support. Within the published materials, Mr. Sheen described his conduct by stating that he had “flipped the menu over,” a reference to his decision to engage in same-sex encounters. He affirmed that these actions primarily occurred during his use of crack cocaine.
Mr. Sheen further elaborated that such conduct originated in connection with drug use, and that, during periods of sobriety, he struggled to reconcile and interpret those experiences. Ultimately, he expressed that he had reached a position of acceptance, characterizing some of the experiences as unusual, others as enjoyable, and concluding with the statement that “life goes on.”
During an appearance on Good Morning America on Friday, Mr. Charlie Sheen addressed his prior decision to conceal same-sex encounters. He stated that his silence was influenced by instances of extortion, explaining that individuals had obtained compromising recordings and other material and used them as leverage. Mr. Sheen noted that, at the time, he chose to make payments in order to suppress disclosure and to “make it go away.”
Mr. Sheen further referenced his public revelation of his HIV status in 2015, explaining that disclosure was motivated by a desire to be “free of that” and to gauge public reaction once the information became widely known. He described the announcement as providing “tremendous relief.”
In the forthcoming documentary aka Charlie Sheen, when asked about publicly acknowledging, for the first time, that he had engaged in sexual activity with men, Mr. Sheen described the process as “liberating,” adding that fears of catastrophic consequences had proven unfounded.
Mr. Sheen also affirmed that he has maintained sobriety for eight (8) years, has ceased drug use, and has sought to make amends to those affected by his past conduct. He emphasized that neither his book nor the documentary is intended to portray himself as a victim.
Mr. Sheen, born Carlos Irwin Estévez, is the son of actor Martin Sheen, age eighty-five (85). His acting career began with minor roles in his father’s films, before his appearance in Red Dawn (1983) and his breakout role in Platoon (1986). He subsequently starred in Wall Street (1987) and achieved mainstream popularity through the sitcom Two and a Half Men, from which he was terminated in 2011 due to erratic behavior attributed to substance use.
Presently leading a quieter lifestyle, Mr. Sheen, a father of five, shares his eldest daughter Cassandra, age forty (40), with Paula Profit, his high school partner. With his former spouse Denise Richards, he has two daughters, Sami (age twenty-one [21]) and Lola (age twenty [20]). He is also the father of twin sons Bob and Max, age sixteen (16), from his marriage to Brooke Mueller.
In remarks to People, Mr. Sheen described his romantic life as “uneventful,” noting that his focus has shifted to family life. He explained that his daughters moved into his home, followed by his sons, which left little opportunity for romantic pursuits. He added that, after years of expending energy in pursuit of relationships, he has reached a stage where he is “alone, but not lonely.”
Mr. Sheen’s memoir, The Book of Sheen, is scheduled for publication on September 9, while the Netflix docuseries aka Charlie Sheen will debut on September 10.#newsafro_
