A lawyer has expressed frustration over the difficulties in securing bail for controversial figure VeryDarkMan, citing multiple hurdles during the process. The individual, known for their polarizing presence, has faced ongoing legal challenges, and the lawyer involved has indicated that despite efforts to secure bail, various legal obstacles have made the process unusually complex.
Specific details on the nature of these hurdles have not been fully disclosed, but it appears that procedural delays and administrative roadblocks are among the key issues. The lawyer’s comments underscore the complicated nature of the case, drawing attention to the challenges in navigating the legal system in such high-profile situations.
As of now, VeryDarkMan’s legal team continues to work towards a resolution, with public and media interest surrounding the case growing. The situation remains fluid, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
Deji Adeyanju, the lawyer representing social media personality and activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has voiced concerns over the difficulties encountered in securing his client’s release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement on Tuesday, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed that VeryDarkMan had been granted administrative bail but remained in custody due to his inability to meet the required bail conditions. The EFCC clarified that Otse had been invited for questioning in connection with multiple petitions alleging serious financial crimes.
Oyewale further revealed that the arrest followed Otse’s consistent failure to respond to repeated EFCC invitations sent to known addresses and through other communication channels.
In response to the EFCC’s statement, Deji Adeyanju, lawyer for Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan), expressed frustration over the difficulty in accessing the documents detailing the bail conditions for his client. Adeyanju stated that despite multiple attempts to obtain the necessary documents, his legal team had been unsuccessful. He also mentioned that, while VeryDarkMan had been granted bail, they had not yet received any official documents confirming the conditions.
Meanwhile, the EFCC clarified that VeryDarkMan’s arrest was legal and based on multiple petitions accusing him of financial crimes. The commission emphasized that the arrest was not a retaliation for the suspect’s “unguarded attacks” on the EFCC on social media, stating that the decision was solely linked to serious financial allegations. The EFCC urged the public to avoid speculation and allow the commission to carry out its responsibilities.
The arrest has sparked significant public outcry, with protests outside the GTB headquarters in Abuja calling for Otse’s release. The incident has garnered condemnation from various public figures, including Labor Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi, lawyers, and fans of VeryDarkMan.#newsafro_
