Nigerian musician Mohbad’s father has filed a legal challenge against the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) advice that led to the exoneration of singer Naira Marley and others in connection with his son’s death. The DPP had previously cleared Naira Marley, music promoter Sam Larry, and others, stating they had no case to answer regarding Mohbad’s demise. However, the DPP recommended that Mohbad’s auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and his friend, Ayobami Sadiq, face prosecution for reckless and negligent acts under Section 251 (e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
In response, Mohbad’s father has approached the court to quash the legal advice that freed Naira Marley and the others, seeking further investigation into their involvement.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. His death sparked widespread protests and calls for justice, leading to investigations by the Lagos State Police Command. The autopsy results were inconclusive, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain a subject of public interest.
The legal proceedings initiated by Mohbad’s father aim to ensure a comprehensive investigation and accountability for those involved in his son’s untimely death.#newsafro_
