The NBA, in collaboration with the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), recently trained 100 youths and 50 coaches as part of their ongoing efforts to boost basketball participation and infrastructure in Africa. This initiative is part of the Jr. NBA and AFD Basketball Experience, a program designed to support youth development through basketball.
In Lagos, 50 school teachers and coaches participated in a training session aimed at equipping them with skills to positively impact youth development, promote physical well-being, and foster essential life skills like teamwork and discipline.
Gbemisola Abudu, in her capacity as Vice President and Head of NBA Nigeria, has articulated the league’s continued commitment to the expansion and enhancement of basketball infrastructure in Nigeria. She emphasized that the Jr. NBA clinic held in Kano is an integral part of the NBA’s broader strategy to promote basketball within the nation.
This initiative aims to increase the accessibility of the sport, fostering opportunities for both boys and girls to engage with and develop their skills in basketball. It is clear that such efforts align with the NBA’s long-term goal of cultivating the game across Nigeria, thus contributing to the broader basketball ecosystem within the country. This approach is indicative of the NBA’s dedication to nurturing young talent and advancing the sport nationally.
