Sean Wilson, renowned for his portrayal of Martin Platt on Coronation Street, has spoken out about his abrupt exit following his brief comeback on the iconic soap. The actor revealed that his return to the show was unexpectedly cut short, claiming that his “reputation was ruined in eight minutes.”
Wilson, who had been a familiar face on the show for over two decades, expressed his disappointment over how the situation was managed, leaving both him and fans blindsided by his sudden departure.
Actor Sean Wilson, 59, known for his long-standing role as Martin Platt on Coronation Street, has revealed the circumstances behind his recent dismissal from the soap. Wilson, who had already filmed scenes with Helen Worth (Gail Platt), was unexpectedly informed he was being axed due to a pending police investigation into an allegation of indecent assault dating back to 1997.
Wilson claims he was not provided with details of the allegation, which was reportedly made by a woman with links to the soap. Following the investigation, authorities cleared him of any wrongdoing, confirming just ten days ago that no further action would be taken.
In an interview with The Sun, Wilson described the ordeal as devastating, stating: “My reputation was ruined in just eight minutes—my whole world blown apart. I had no idea who had made this complaint or anything about it, but I lost my job. It’s been hell. I’ve been low all the way through.”
