A handyman was confronted with a chilling scene after being summoned to a picturesque Hamptons residence to clean up following a raucous party. Upon arrival, he made a horrifying discovery that has left both him and the homeowners shaken.
The job, initially thought to involve standard post-party clean-up duties, quickly escalated into a nightmarish situation. Details of the specific nature of the discovery have yet to be disclosed, but sources suggest that it involved shocking evidence that prompted an immediate investigation.
Local authorities have been alerted to the situation, and the community is left grappling with the unsettling implications of the incident.
Upon arriving at the East Quogue residence of 43-year-old Jeremy Allen on Saturday morning, the handyman made a gruesome discovery: a beaten and bloodied body concealed beneath a tarp on the back patio, as reported by Newsday.
In a chilling turn of events, the homeowner allegedly remarked to the handyman, “Now you can’t leave. Now you have to help clean up the house,” according to Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Elena Tomaro, who provided details of the incident during a press briefing on Sunday. This statement has raised significant concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding the crime and the homeowner’s involvement.
In response to the chilling situation, the unnamed handyman expressed a need for additional supplies to adequately complete the task at hand. However, instead of proceeding with the cleanup, he promptly contacted Southampton Town Police, who arrived at the location shortly before 10 a.m.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officials declared Christopher Hahn, 43, deceased at the scene. Approximately one hour after the discovery of the body, Jeremy Allen was taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with Hahn’s death.
According to authorities, Jeremy Allen and Christopher Hahn had been drinking together at a bar on Friday night, initially intending to attend a meeting for individuals struggling with addiction, as reported by Newsday.
During the course of the evening, a heated dispute allegedly erupted between the two men, culminating in Allen physically assaulting Hahn for several hours, starting around midnight, as outlined by prosecutors. Following this assault, Allen purportedly dragged Hahn’s “defenseless and helpless body” onto the patio, where he continued to strike the victim with a baseball bat.
Subsequently, Allen returned with a “large knife” and fatally stabbed Hahn in the head and neck, an act captured by the home’s surveillance camera. Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Elena Tomaro characterized the footage as “brutal and heinous to watch.”
In defense of his client, attorney Colin Astarita suggested that Allen may have a viable defense claim, arguing that Allen was in his own home during the incident. Astarita described Allen and Hahn as longtime acquaintances who had recently rekindled their relationship. He further contended that Hahn had disregarded requests to stay away from Allen’s residence and “injected himself into” Allen’s life.
