The Princess of Wales has made her first public appearance subsequent to the announcement of the completion of her chemotherapy treatment.
Catherine, aged 42, was accompanied by Prince William, also 42, King Charles, aged 75, and Queen Camilla, aged 77, during their attendance at Crathie Kirk Church in Balmoral this morning.
The royal mother of three appeared to be in good health as she attended Sunday Service, marking her first public appearance since disclosing the completion of her chemotherapy treatment.
She was seen wearing one of her preferred khaki hats while seated in the passenger seat of the vehicle, with Prince William at the wheel.
This appearance follows reports earlier in the week indicating that Catherine returned to her professional duties for the first time, presiding over a meeting related to her early years initiative, as she gradually resumes her responsibilities following her cancer diagnosis.
Catherine was accompanied by members of her household team, as well as representatives from her Centre for Early Childhood based at Kensington Palace.
This engagement was officially documented in the Court Circular, which serves as the formal record of royal activities. The entry stated: “The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron of The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor this afternoon.”
This marks the first recorded meeting in the Court Circular since the princess convened a round table discussion for her Royal Foundation on December 6 of the previous year.
Catherine hosted her annual carol service two days later and participated in the family Christmas gathering at Sandringham; however, she was subsequently hospitalized for surgery a few weeks later.
While she has engaged in limited remote work, maintaining contact with her staff and pursuing her “passion projects,” including attending the men’s finals at Wimbledon and Trooping the Colour, her recent public appearance represents a significant milestone in her recovery.
It is not surprising that she selected her Early Years initiative as her first major work engagement, given its personal significance to her.
In a heartwarming video released last week, the Princess disclosed that she has completed her chemotherapy treatment and is focused on remaining “cancer free” as she gradually reenters public life.
Catherine expressed her intention to return to work and participate in “a few more public engagements in the coming months,” emphasizing that her primary focus is on “doing what I can to stay cancer free.”
With the royal’s voiceover, the footage provides a touching glimpse into the lives of the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children: Prince George, aged 11, Princess Charlotte, aged 9, and Prince Louis, aged 6.
Filmed last month in Norfolk, the family is seen exploring a woodland area, beautiful fields, and what seems to be their favorite beach near their countryside residence at Anmer Hall.
In one humorous moment, Prince William, aged 42, rescued a caterpillar that had fallen onto Charlotte’s head while the family enjoyed a picnic beneath a majestic tree.
This is not the only joyful scene captured by their favored filmmaker, Will Warr, as a playful William and Kate are seen lying together on the sand, while George and Louis joyfully run around in the sea.
The unprecedented and deeply personal footage also included the Princess’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, who have consistently provided unwavering support.
Seated around a dining table, they were seen engaging in a card game with their three enthusiastic grandchildren, along with William and Kate, capturing a light-hearted moment.
The clip further depicted the family joyfully playing on the beach and in the woods, with William and Kate lying entwined on a blanket, embracing their children and sharing affectionate kisses.
The setting of the footage holds significant symbolism, reflecting the strength Kate derives from her family and loved ones, as well as her connection to activities that bring her joy, particularly the solace she finds in nature.

In the poignant video, the Princess is seen walking through the woods and fields, accompanied by her voiceover. Her children exhibit their playful spirits, engaging in various fun activities with their family.
In one moment, William and Kate’s eldest son smiled broadly as he carried a cricket bat while hiking through the woods with his parents and siblings.
Meanwhile, Louis delighted in climbing trees and being pushed on a swing by his mother, laughter filling the air.
In another playful shot, George experimented with the camera, asking, “Is this filming?” while sitting on a picnic blanket with Kate.
A curious Louis then entered the frame, cheerfully exclaiming, “Hello!” as Charlotte laughed.
The energetic trio also climbed on wooden logs, shared affectionate moments with their family, and played card games with their grandparents during the captivating three-minute video.
In her message, the Princess stated: “As summer comes to an end, I cannot express what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.
“The last nine months have been incredibly challenging for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to navigate the stormy waters of the unknown.
“The cancer journey is complex, frightening, and unpredictable for everyone, especially for those closest to you. It confronts you with your vulnerabilities in ways you may never have considered, providing a new perspective on everything.”
“This time has, above all, reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which many of us often take for granted—of simply loving and being loved.”
Regarding her future plans, Kate continued: “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have completed chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes. However, I look forward to returning to work and participating in a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”
“Notwithstanding the challenges faced, I embark on this new phase of recovery with a revitalized sense of hope and gratitude for life. William and I deeply appreciate the support we’ve received, drawing significant strength from those assisting us during this time. The kindness, empathy, and compassion shown by everyone has been profoundly humbling.”
