Russian propagandists have reportedly issued threats of a radioactive tsunami aimed at Britain using Russia’s Poseidon “superweapon” in response to the UK’s decision to provide Ukraine with an additional 650 air defense missiles. This rhetoric reflects heightened tensions and aggressive posturing amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the broader geopolitical standoff. The Poseidon weapon, a theoretical nuclear-powered underwater drone, is part of Russia’s advanced weaponry program and has been used in propaganda to showcase potential retaliation capabilities.
Russian propagandists have escalated tensions by calling for Britain to be submerged by a radioactive tsunami using Russia’s Poseidon “superweapon.” Andrei Gurulev, a hardline Russian MP, derisively urged Britain to “swim, swim, swim” as he advocated for the deployment of Moscow’s high-speed underwater atomic drone, Poseidon, against the UK.
Kremlin-affiliated TV channel Rossiya-1 has amplified this rhetoric, suggesting that a “critical threat” from President Vladimir Putin is necessary to deter Britain, the US, and other Western nations from supporting Ukraine with long-range missiles capable of striking Russian territory.
Lt-Gen Andrei Gurulev, a former tank commander and military strategist, has suggested a “more radical option” in response to Western support for Ukraine. Gurulev stated, “The people of Britain are there, they also want to live a good and happy life at our expense, right? But if there is no Britain, there is no problem.”
This rhetoric coincides with the UK’s commitment to providing Ukraine with an additional 650 lightweight multi-role missiles, valued at £162 million, aimed at bolstering the country’s defense against Russian drones and bombing campaigns.
