Producers of the Jeremy Kyle Show reportedly joked about guest Steve Dymond, noting he “had tears in his eyes lol,” in private WhatsApp messages sent prior to his appearance on the ITV show, an inquest has revealed. The messages suggest a lack of sensitivity regarding Dymond’s emotional state before the broadcast.
Producers of the Jeremy Kyle Show reportedly joked about guest Steve Dymond having “tears in his eyes” just days before his death, an inquest has heard. Dymond, 63, is believed to have taken his own life seven days after filming for the program in May 2019. The Portsmouth resident had appeared on the show to take a lie detector test following accusations of infidelity against his partner, Jane Callaghan.
Jeremy Kyle arrived this morning to provide evidence at the inquest into the death of one of his show’s guests. The 59-year-old television host faces allegations of having “thrown Mr. Dymond under the bus” and encouraging the audience to boo him following the lie detector results that deemed him unfaithful.
At Winchester Coroner’s Court today, it was revealed that a member of the Jeremy Kyle Show production team described guest Steve Dymond in a private chat group, noting he “had tears in his eyes twice lol x.” The court also heard that Dymond, 63, was visibly distressed, sobbing continuously after filming and expressing a desire to die to a producer.
The inquest was informed that the show’s production team used a WhatsApp group to discuss guests before and after filming. A message from May 2, 2019, prior to the episode’s recording, read: “Could you pop and see Mr. Dymond, who wants to meet you. Could be emotional – he’s had tears in his eyes twice lol x.” Another message, sent after filming, stated: “Just so you know, he’s still crying. I think it’s still being in this room going around in circles.”
