Nick Grimshaw was seen looking somber as he departed Ibiza following a traumatic incident. Earlier this week, masked thieves broke into the villa he had rented for his 40th birthday celebration with his family.
The former BBC Radio 1 presenter and his 81-year-old mother were gassed while they slept, allowing the raiders to ransack their holiday apartment. This gang has been targeting properties of wealthy tourists on the island since last year, as previously reported by the media.
Nick Grimshaw was spotted at Ibiza airport, appearing solemn and subdued following the terrifying incident. Dressed in a simple white shirt and jeans, he kept his head down under a baseball cap while scrolling through his phone, clearly affected by the ordeal.
Nick Grimshaw was accompanied by his fiancé, Mesh Henry, as they waited to board their flight at Ibiza airport. The incident occurred when Nick and his mother, Eileen, were sedated by a gang that pumped a sedative gas into their rented villa. The intruders, wearing hazmat suits, waited for the gas to take effect before ransacking the property. Fortunately, no one was physically harmed, although some items were reportedly stolen.
A source mentioned that the gang likely had no idea who Nick was but targeted the villa because it was known to be used by high-net-worth clients. The source added that it was a case of “wrong place at the wrong time,” and although Nick was understandably upset, he chose to keep the incident off social media.
Before the terrifying event, Nick had been enjoying his time in Ibiza, recently seen out with his niece, Liv, and fiancé, Mesh, indulging in ice cream. It’s since been revealed that the villa was on the target list of a gang known for similar attacks, using sedative gas and breaking in while wearing hazmat suits.
