Legendary singer and songwriter Neil Sedaka has passed away at the age of 86, with his death attributed to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to his official death certificate. Kidney failure was also listed as a contributing factor.
The condition, as explained by the American Heart Association, occurs when plaque builds up in the arteries, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Sedaka was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after feeling unwell and died the following day on February 27, 2026. His family described his passing as “sudden” and expressed being “devastated” by the loss.
