A former producer of The Bachelorette says ABC wasn’t blindsided by Taylor Frankie Paul’s alleged violence involving ex Dakota Mortensen.
Michael Carroll, speaking on “TMZ Live,” explained that casting on the show has always been rigorous, with deep background, medical, and psychological checks. Anyone with a history of legal or violent issues would have been an automatic disqualification, he said.
Carroll suggests current producers were fully aware of Taylor’s past as a star on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, framing the controversy as more of a publicity stunt than a genuine surprise. With the franchise now in its 24th year and facing stiff competition from other dating shows, he believes drama like this could actually boost viewership.
He added that producers will likely try to spin the story, presenting Taylor as someone seeking a fresh start through the show. Meanwhile, Taylor and Dakota have been ordered to undergo psychological evaluations following the allegations, which have already paused production on Season 5.#newsafro_
