Taylor Swift has formally escalated her opposition to a home goods manufacturer’s attempt to secure federal trademark protection for the mark “Swift Home,” asserting that the proposed branding infringes upon and is likely to cause confusion with her established intellectual property rights.
In a filing submitted on Wednesday to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Swift requested that the agency refuse registration of the mark sought by Cathay Home Inc.. The application concerns a stylized “Swift” logo rendered in cursive script with a wing-like flourish, which Swift contends bears a substantial resemblance to her registered signature.
Swift maintains that authorization of the “Swift Home” mark in connection with bedding and related home products could result in consumer confusion, including the false assumption that she endorses, sponsors, or is otherwise affiliated with the goods. Her filing reportedly asserts that her stylized signature has achieved sufficient fame and commercial recognition such that use of a similar script in the marketplace would falsely suggest a connection.
The action follows earlier indications of opposition by Swift’s image-rights entity, TAS Rights Management, which signaled resistance to the application in December 2025. Court and agency records reflect that her legal team secured an extension through December 2026 to formalize opposition proceedings. She has retained counsel, including attorney Rebecca Liebowitz of Venable LLP, to prosecute the matter.
