The ongoing dispute involving Afrobeats artiste David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, and a minor, Anuoluwapo Mitchelle, has reportedly escalated following the circulation of an alleged private communication in which the singer is said to have reiterated his denial of paternity and issued warnings to the child’s mother, Ayo Labinjoh.
According to reports, a screen-recorded exchange shared on social media and attributed to Davido’s verified account depicts a series of messages in which the artiste emphatically disclaims any parental relationship with the minor and cautions that continued public assertions to the contrary may result in legal action against the child’s mother. As of the time of reporting, Davido has neither authenticated nor refuted the veracity of the leaked communication.
The correspondence, allegedly posted on an Instagram account jointly managed by the minor and her mother, reflects a tense dialogue in which Davido is said to have reaffirmed prior statements denying paternity, citing multiple DNA tests that he claims yielded negative results. He reportedly asserted that the matter has persisted over several years and has adversely affected his immediate family, particularly his acknowledged children.
The controversy was recently revived following a public appeal by the minor, who alleged emotional distress and social bullying arising from the unresolved paternity claim and requested an independent DNA test. Davido subsequently rejected the request in public statements on social media platforms, maintaining that he never had a relationship with the child’s mother and that several DNA tests—some allegedly selected by both parties—had conclusively excluded him as the child’s father.
In the purported chat, Davido is quoted as warning the minor to desist from further claims and advising her to identify her biological father elsewhere. He allegedly indicated an intention to publish the DNA test results and to pursue legal remedies against the mother, including instituting court proceedings, should the allegations continue.
The child and her mother have since responded publicly, accusing the singer of intimidation, bullying, and dissemination of false information. Ms. Labinjoh reportedly questioned the credibility and transparency of the alleged DNA tests and announced plans to seek a fresh, independently supervised test, potentially involving U.S. authorities, citing Davido’s American citizenship.
The matter remains unresolved, with conflicting claims from both parties and no judicial determination having been made at the time of this report.#newsafro_
