The Katsina State Police Command has reported the successful prevention of a bandit attack along the Kandawa‑Dankar road in Batsari Local Government Area, resulting in the recovery of firearms and a motorcycle.
According to a statement released on Saturday by DSP Abubakar Sadiq, spokesperson for the command, the incident occurred on November 29, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., when officers received a report of armed individuals attempting to block the Kandawa‑Dankar road. Following rapid mobilization, a brief exchange of gunfire ensued, prompting the suspects to flee the scene.
The police recovered two AK‑47 rifles, twenty-four rounds of live ammunition, and one Boxer motorcycle. Investigations are ongoing with the objective of apprehending the fleeing suspects.
DSP Sadiq noted that the operation was conducted in accordance with directives from the Inspector‑General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and under the leadership of CP Bello Shehu, emphasizing heightened vigilance and strategic security measures across the State.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their prompt and courageous response and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support security operations. The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the protection of lives and property throughout Katsina State.
