Djimon Hounsou is facing a new legal battle with ex-partner Ri’za Marie Simpson as the former couple fights over custody and child support for their two children.
According to court documents, the “Gladiator” star filed paperwork in January requesting joint legal and physical custody of their son, born in 2022, and daughter, born in 2023. Simpson reportedly agreed to share legal custody but is asking the court to grant her primary physical custody, citing differences in their work schedules and travel commitments.
She is also seeking financial support, claiming the breakup significantly affected her finances.
The custody dispute comes just months after a domestic incident in Atlanta led to Simpson’s arrest. Reports say Hounsou contacted police in December, alleging Simpson struck him in the face after he asked her to leave his home. Simpson was later arrested on charges of simple assault and obstruction after allegedly giving officers false information.
Following the incident, Simpson obtained a temporary restraining order against Hounsou, but later dismissed it after the two reportedly reached an agreement outside of court.#newsafro_
