Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, aged 56, appeared at a For Your Consideration (FYC) event in Midtown Manhattan on Tuesday for Netflix’s acclaimed series Wednesday, where she posed alongside her co-star and onscreen daughter, Jenna Ortega, aged 23.
Despite a 33-year age difference, Zeta-Jones appeared comparably youthful and radiant, commanding attention on the black carpet at The Whitby Hotel in a form-fitting Simkhai turtleneck dress in “blood red,” styled by Kelly M. Johnson, and paired with black boots. Her hair, styled in loose waves by Roque Jimenez, and her make-up, executed by Hung Vanngo, contributed to her polished and age-defying appearance.
Ortega, styled by Enrique Melendez, opted for a more understated ensemble consisting of a black trench coat, gray turtleneck, cuffed blue jeans, and black platform heels. Her hair was styled by Cesar Deleon Ramirez, while Melanie Inglessis provided her contoured make-up look.
Zeta-Jones reprises her role as Morticia Addams, with Ortega returning as Wednesday Addams, in the forthcoming second season of the live-action coming-of-age series created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
In an interview with Variety, Zeta-Jones expressed her hope that Wednesday’s character “snaps out of demonizing her mother” in the new season. She also remarked that her husband Michael Douglas’s longtime friend, Danny DeVito, would make an excellent addition to the cast as Cousin Itt, humorously recalling a conversation in which DeVito teased her for the suggestion.
The actress and Douglas will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on November 18, having married in 2000. Together, they share two children — Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22 — both of whom have pursued careers in acting. Zeta-Jones is also stepmother to Cameron Douglas, 46, from Douglas’s prior marriage to Diandra Luker.
Wednesday’s second season features direction by Tim Burton in four of its eight episodes and currently holds a “Certified Fresh” 87% critic rating and 76% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The cast includes Luis Guzmán, Steve Buscemi, Christina Ricci, Gwendoline Christie, Lady Gaga, Fred Armisen, and Thandiwe Newton, among others.
The event also featured a post-screening Q&A session moderated by Josh Horowitz, host of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and attended by co-stars Luis Guzmán and Steve Buscemi.
Looking ahead, Zeta-Jones is set to executive produce and star in Kill Jackie, an upcoming Amazon Prime Video series adapted from Aidan Truhen’s 2018 novel The Price You Pay, in which she portrays Jackie Price, a wealthy art dealer entangled in a dangerous underworld.#newsafro_
