Eva Longoria is opening up about life beyond the United States, and the personal sacrifices that came with her decision to leave.
The actress revealed that after relocating abroad with her husband, José Bastón, and splitting their time between Mexico and Spain, one of the hardest adjustments has been distance from her loved ones. She admitted she deeply misses her Texas-based family—and, perhaps just as much, authentic Mexican food, something she says is hard to find in Europe.
Having spent most of her adult life in California, Longoria shared that she feels that chapter has now closed. She no longer sees Los Angeles as home, describing it as a place that has changed significantly over the years.
Still, life in Spain has brought a different rhythm she’s come to appreciate. She spoke about embracing a slower pace, where long meals and unhurried days are part of the culture—something that sharply contrasts with the fast-paced, work-driven lifestyle she experienced in the U.S.
Despite the lifestyle shift, her family continues to move between countries. She recently returned to Los Angeles for work on her upcoming film, while also focusing on her son Santiago, who is now enjoying school life and thriving socially.
Longoria acknowledged that her son feels happiest surrounded by family, many of whom are based in Spain and Mexico, leaving the door open for a possible return abroad once her current projects are complete.
Her earlier comments about leaving the U.S. sparked headlines, particularly after she described the country as feeling “dystopian” following the 2024 election. While she recognizes her privilege in being able to live internationally, she expressed concern for those who don’t have that option.
Now, as she balances work, family, and life across continents, Longoria says she’s focused on growth, embracing aging, and continuing to push forward in her career—proving that her story is far from over.#newsafro_
