British singer Raye, 27, was compelled to pause her performance at the All Points East Festival in Victoria Park, London, on Saturday after a member of the audience collapsed during her set.
The artist, who had been engaging the crowd between songs, became aware of the emergency after noticing fans signalling from the crowd. Responding promptly, she appealed for assistance:
“We’ve got some pointing and waving over there — is everything alright? Security, please can we get some people over there,” she announced.
Raye further requested the audience to clear a path for medical personnel and sought confirmation once assistance had been rendered: “Can we get a thumbs up when help has been received? Someone has passed out I think, are they okay? I hope this person is alright.”
The situation was stabilized shortly thereafter, with audience members signalling back a positive update, prompting cheers of relief from the crowd before the performance resumed.
The festival, which spans the bank holiday weekend, features a line-up including Chase & Status, Barry Can’t Swim, and The Maccabees, with supporting acts from Tyla, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Confidence Man.
The incident follows disappointment among fans earlier in the week when American rapper and singer Doechii, 27, withdrew from her scheduled performances at All Points East, Forwards Bristol Festival, and Rock en Seine in Paris.
Organisers confirmed the cancellation via Instagram on Tuesday, stating: “We’re very sorry to announce that Doechii will no longer be performing at her upcoming shows. She is an incredible artist, and, like all of her fans, we were hugely excited to see her on stage.”
Doechii has yet to issue a personal statement regarding the cancellations, and no reason has been provided. The announcement sparked backlash from disappointed fans, many of whom had traveled long distances or purchased tickets specifically to see her.#newsafro_
