Mason Dye, widely recognized for his role in the Netflix series Stranger Things, has confirmed his engagement to long-term partner Carmen Joiner. The proposal took place on Valentine’s Day at a lakeside location within their neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, following a four-year relationship.
In a statement provided to People magazine, Ms. Joiner recounted that the timing of the proposal was unexpected, stating:
“Valentine’s Day felt way too obvious, so it completely went over my head.”
According to Ms. Joiner, Mr. Dye orchestrated the evening by fabricating dinner reservations at one of their favorite restaurants to divert suspicion. Following the proposal, he surprised her with an overnight stay at Château Élan, a luxury resort in North Georgia, where the couple celebrated privately and enjoyed a spa day the following afternoon.
Upon returning home, the couple was welcomed by a surprise celebration hosted by family and friends—including their pet cat, Willow. Mr. Dye’s parents reportedly traveled from Oklahoma to attend, adding a personal and meaningful touch to the occasion.
As of the time of reporting, no official date for the wedding has been publicly announced.
In discussing plans for their forthcoming nuptials, Carmen Joiner—fiancée of actor Mason Dye—stated that the couple had envisioned a venue that would reflect a “coastal and romantic” aesthetic, ideally located on the water and accessible to family and friends. According to Ms. Joiner:
“We also wanted something that felt coastal and romantic, something on the water, and somewhere all of our friends and family would be excited to visit. Cape Cod checked all the boxes.”
Ms. Joiner, who is currently employed as an Associate District Manager at ADP TotalSource, originally met Mr. Dye through a long-standing mutual acquaintance. The couple publicly acknowledged their relationship in 2021, when Ms. Joiner shared their first joint image on her Instagram account.
Coinciding with the public announcement of their engagement, industry publication Deadline reported that Mason Dye has been cast as a series regular in Vought Rising, a 1950s-set prequel to Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys. He is set to portray the character Bombsight, a former combat pilot who becomes a drug addict. Dye confirmed the casting via Instagram Stories, expressing enthusiasm about joining the production, which is scheduled to begin filming later this month. His post read:
“So excited to be a part of this!”
Mr. Dye, a native of Oklahoma, is also the sibling of Tae Dye, one half of the country music duo Maddie & Tae. In Vought Rising, he will appear alongside actors Jensen Ackles (as Soldier Boy) and Aya Cash (as Stormfront) in a series created by Paul Grellong, which is described as a dark and twisted murder mystery.
Before his role in the forthcoming prequel, Dye is expected to appear as the character Bombsight in the fifth and final season of the flagship series The Boys, set to premiere in 2026 on Amazon Prime Video. It is presumed that his character is a recipient of Compound V, possibly administered by the fictional scientist Frederick Vought.
Mr. Dye is also recognized by Netflix audiences for his role as Jason Carver in Season 4 of Stranger Things (2022), in which he portrayed a privileged high school basketball player who targeted Eddie Munson (played by Joseph Quinn) under suspicions of “Satanic” behavior.
The return of Mason Dye’s character, Jason Carver, to the Netflix series Stranger Things has been rendered narratively impossible due to the events of Season 4. Specifically, the character Vecna (portrayed by Jamie Campbell Bower) succeeded in opening a fourth gate to the Upside Down, causing a rupture through the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana—an event that conclusively eliminated the possibility of Jason’s reappearance.
In addition to his role on Stranger Things, Mr. Dye previously gained recognition for his performance in the fourth season of MTV’s Teen Wolf (2014), wherein he portrayed Garrett, the werewolf-hunting boyfriend of Violet (played by Samantha Logan), appearing in four episodes.
Also in 2014, Mr. Dye starred in Lifetime’s adaptation of Flowers in the Attic, directed by Deborah Chow. In the film, he played Christopher, a 14-year-old hostage, opposite a cast that included Kiernan Shipka, Ellen Burstyn, and Heather Graham.#newsafro_
