Jersey Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is opening up about his mental health after fans expressed concern over a viral clip showing him appearing to doze off during a recent cast interview.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Ortiz-Magro directly addressed the situation, thanking fans for their support before revealing he has been quietly battling depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. He shared that he manages his symptoms with prescription medication and regular therapy sessions, but emphasized that there is no simple or permanent solution.
The reality star explained that the viral moment reflected a difficult period in his life, pointing to the combined effects of his medication and recent emotional stress. He admitted he had hoped to power through the press tour alongside his castmates but ultimately found the experience overwhelming.
“I thought I could be strong enough to get through it,” he suggested in his message, acknowledging that what viewers saw was him struggling through one of his hardest moments in public.
Ortiz-Magro also used the opportunity to reflect on what he described as “high functioning depression,” writing that it can feel like living outwardly normal while internally feeling disconnected and overwhelmed.
He ended his message by saying he intends to focus more on his mental health moving forward and expressed gratitude to fans who reached out with encouragement and shared their own experiences.
Support has also come from his Mike Sorrentino, who publicly offered encouragement and emphasized his willingness to stand by his longtime castmate while continuing to advocate for recovery and compassion within their circle.
Ortiz-Magro’s latest statement adds to a long history of him being candid about personal struggles, including past challenges with sobriety and well-being during his years on Jersey Shore.#newsafro_
