Miley Cyrus has released a new music video featuring supermodel Naomi Campbell, approximately one week after both individuals were the subject of public criticism for allegedly displaying discourteous behavior toward fans during a meet-and-greet event held in London.
Ms. Cyrus, aged 32, collaborated with Ms. Campbell, aged 55, on the track Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved, the latest single from her recently released album Something Beautiful, including its associated promotional materials.
The accompanying music video—described as provocative in nature—opens with Ms. Cyrus performing vocals and choreography within a dimly lit warehouse setting, attired in a black minidress. Ms. Campbell is also credited with vocal contributions to the track.
Following the initial verse of the recording, Ms. Naomi Campbell delivers a spoken-word segment in which she states: ‘She has the perfect scent, pose, she speaks the perfect French.’
Adorned in a full-length black trench coat, Ms. Campbell continues: ‘She never wears a watch, but still she’s never late; she’s got that kind of grace—did Botticelli paint your face?’
The verse proceeds with: ‘She has the perfect scent, she speaks the perfect French, she can dance the night away and yet she’ll never break a sweat,’ concluding with the repeated articulation of the word ‘Pose.
In the concluding scenes of the music video, both Ms. Naomi Campbell and Ms. Miley Cyrus appear in provocative black lingerie, striking multiple poses together before exiting the frame jointly as the video comes to an end.
Within 12 hours of its release, the video had accrued over 536,000 views and received in excess of 49,000 likes from Ms. Cyrus’s 19.8 million YouTube subscribers.
Ms. Campbell publicly commented on the video, stating: ‘So proud to be part of this powerful moment with you, Miley.’ She further remarked, ‘Your vision, your voice, your heart—it all shines through. Thank you for including me in this project. Who else is obsessed with this video?’
The video’s release followed a joint public appearance by Ms. Cyrus and Ms. Campbell at Rough Trade, an iconic venue in London, where they participated in a promotional signing of vinyl copies of Ms. Cyrus’s single Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved.
Despite the promotional intent of the event, the pair faced criticism for allegedly engaging primarily with one another rather than interacting meaningfully with fans. Notably, content creator Juanito Say posted a video of the event, accompanied by the caption: ‘You pay for a meet & greet to meet Miley Cyrus… And she totally ignores you because she’s busy chatting with Naomi.’
Other attendees expressed similar dissatisfaction. For example, user @sgarrettmc indicated that he had canceled his order, commenting that the two artists ‘just talking to themselves’ and were ‘barely acknowledging fans.’
In the days following the aforementioned event, Ms. Miley Cyrus issued a response via social media, posting nine video clips depicting favorable and amicable interactions with fans.
Ms. Cyrus clarified that the appearance at Rough Trade was originally intended solely for the signing of a limited number of vinyl copies of the single Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved, approximately two weeks in advance of its scheduled release date of July 11.
In addressing the controversy, the three-time Grammy Award recipient—who maintains a combined social media following of approximately 348.3 million—asserted that the venue had requested a no-photography policy due to the unexpected size of the turnout.
‘But we knew the night needed to be captured,’ she stated, expressing gratitude to photographer Vijat Mohindra for capturing spontaneous moments. ‘To everyone who came out to celebrate our single, we love you.’
In the footage shared, a cameraman can be heard instructing attendees to turn around for photographs, stating: ‘Right behind you for the picture!’#newsafro_
