Former Love Island star Chris Hughes extended a warm congratulatory message to his ex-girlfriend Jesy Nelson following the premature birth of her twin daughters with partner Zion Foster.
After navigating a high-risk pregnancy, Jesy announced the safe arrival of her baby girls—Ocean Jade and Story Monroe—born at 31 weeks. The singer shared the joyful news via Instagram on Sunday.
Chris, among a number of celebrity well-wishers and fans, responded to the post with a gracious note: “Congrats both of you, stunning.” His message reflected a tone of goodwill and continued mutual respect between the former couple.
Love Island alum Chris Hughes and Jesy Nelson ended their relationship in April 2020 after 16 months together.
More recently, Chris stirred attention during his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother when he appeared visibly emotional while drawing comparisons between his new connection with U.S. star JoJo Siwa and his past relationship with Jesy.
The pair’s “flirty friendship” on the show raised eyebrows among viewers, with some speculating about the nature of their bond. Chris’s candid remarks and emotional reaction suggested that his time with Jesy continues to resonate with him, even as he explores new romantic possibilities.
During his exit interview on the show, Chris Hughes expressed heartfelt admiration for JoJo Siwa, stating:
“JoJo reminded me a lot of… The thing that fascinates me the most about her is not the things she’s done, it’s what she’s been through when she was a teenager and that’s similar to what my ex-girlfriend went through.”
He elaborated, “Seeing how they are both similarly as… in the respect that she’s come through a lot and she’s just a purely nice person. The similarity is in the personality. How nice they are, how loving they are and how caring they are.”
Both Jesy Nelson and JoJo Siwa achieved fame early in life—JoJo rose to prominence as a child on Dance Moms, while Jesy won The X Factor with Little Mix at just 20 years old.
Jesy has been hospitalized since late March due to a diagnosis of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a rare condition that poses risks to one or both babies.
Despite the challenges, Jesy took to Instagram shortly after giving birth prematurely at 31 weeks, confirming that both daughters were healthy and doing well. She shared two tender photos of herself and partner Zion Foster cradling their newborns and wrote:
“So… Our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days. It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We’ve never felt more in love.
Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster.”#newsafro_
