David Charvet will not face criminal charges after a tragic incident in which he accidentally struck and killed a neighbor’s dog with his truck in Malibu on April 16.
Authorities have concluded that the incident was an accident, with law enforcement sources stating that no crime was committed. The decision follows an investigation by the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department, which responded to reports that a vehicle had hit a dog in the area.
Charvet, best known for his role on Baywatch, was driving through his neighborhood in the early morning hours when the collision occurred. His representatives said he slowed down and attempted to pass safely but was unable to avoid the animal, which reportedly moved into the roadway.
According to his team, the actor stopped immediately after the incident, called emergency services, and fully cooperated with authorities at the scene. The dog was taken for medical attention but later died from its injuries.
The dog’s owner has disputed aspects of the account, claiming the animal had been on a leash at the time. However, investigators noted evidence suggesting the dogs may have been off-leash, and said the situation appeared to be a tragic accident rather than a hit-and-run.
Charvet’s representative said the actor has since been subjected to online harassment and even death threats in the aftermath of the incident. They added that he intends to speak out about animal safety and the importance of preventing similar tragedies in the future.
The sheriff’s department confirmed that a traffic report is being prepared, but reiterated that the current findings indicate no criminal wrongdoing.
Charvet, who has largely stepped back from Hollywood in recent years to focus on family life and business ventures, has expressed condolences to the dog’s owner and said his thoughts are with the family affected by the loss.#newsafro_
