An American man married to a Nigerian woman from Cross River State has publicly shared his interest in relocating to Nigeria, citing both personal and systemic factors influencing his decision.
In a widely circulated video, the man expressed frustration over Nigeria’s citizenship laws, noting that while foreign women married to Nigerian men can apply for citizenship relatively quickly, foreign men married to Nigerian women must reside in Nigeria for at least 15 years before becoming eligible. He stated, “I’m married, I have children here, I’ve committed to building a life in this country—yet the system won’t recognize me”.
Mr. Aaron Price, aged thirty-three (33) years, is a native-born citizen of the State of California, United States of America. Mr. Price, whose professional background is in the field of music performance, has since transitioned to a career in software sales.
He has expressed a formal desire and intention to establish residence within the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for no less than fifteen (15) consecutive years, with the objective of fulfilling the statutory residency requirement for the acquisition of Nigerian citizenship by naturalisation, in accordance with applicable provisions of the Nigerian Immigration Act.#newsafro_
