Brooklyn Beckham has shared his personal insights into Prince William’s character amid ongoing speculation about the rift within the royal family involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Beckham, who has had interactions with the royal family over the years, offered a candid perspective on Prince William, shedding light on his demeanor and personality.
While tensions within the royal family, especially between the brothers, have made headlines, Beckham’s comments provide a glimpse into William’s nature apart from the rumored family dynamics.
During a recent appearance on the show, Brooklyn Beckham, son of David and Victoria Beckham, discussed his friendship with Selena Gomez and promoted his new hot sauce—yet talk soon shifted to the Beckham family’s well-known connections with the British royal family.
Rumors have circulated about a rift between the Beckhams and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in recent years, which made it unsurprising when Brooklyn named Prince William, 42, as the royal he’s spent the most time with. Host Andy Cohen, 56, prompted, “Growing up, which members of the royal family did you see most often, especially since your family is friends with Harry and Meghan?”
Avoiding any mention of Harry and Meghan, Brooklyn replied, “Uhh, probably William.” Cohen continued, asking, “Yeah? What’s he like? Is there something about him people don’t get? Is he fun?”
Brooklyn Beckham described Prince William as “the sweetest guy ever,” adding, “He really is. He’s really down to earth—a really good guy.” Host Andy Cohen seemed surprised, responding with a simple, “Wow.”
The Beckhams’ rumored tension with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly began in 2018. The friction allegedly intensified when the Sussexes accused the Beckhams of leaking stories about them to the press, with royal biographers suggesting that Meghan was uncomfortable with David Beckham’s friendship with Prince William.
In May 2024, new speculation about the Beckhams’ relationship with the Sussexes surfaced, as King Charles reportedly met with David Beckham to discuss his charitable foundation during a time when Prince Harry was in the UK. Harry previously mentioned that his father was occupied with “other priorities” and unable to meet him during his UK visit.
David and Victoria Beckham had attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018, but Meghan and Harry were notably absent from Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding to Nicola Peltz in April 2022.
After moving to California in 2020 with their son, Prince Archie, as they stepped back from royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet, a year later in 2021.
In their six-part Netflix series released in December 2022, Harry reflected on the relocation, saying, “We are exactly where we’re supposed to be,” though he added, “I miss the UK.”
Following the news of King Charles’s cancer diagnosis earlier this year, Harry promptly traveled to the UK to be by his father’s side, though reports indicate their meeting lasted less than 45 minutes. Reflecting on this brief reunion during an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America, Harry remarked, “The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go to see him, and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that. Any illness, any sickness, brings families together.”
However, reconciliation may remain a challenge, with Harry’s candid revelations in his memoir and Netflix series potentially creating lasting strains within the royal family.
