Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has issued an apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman following a long-running defamation case. This comes after a Federal Capital Territory High Court ordered Abubakar to pay ₦10 million in damages for defamatory statements she made about the cleric. The actress had publicly accused Apostle Suleman of engaging in a sexual relationship with her, claims which he denied. The court ruled in favor of Suleman and also restrained Abubakar from making any further defamatory comments against him.
In her letter dated Saturday, October 5, 2024, Halima Abubakar issued a formal apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman, admitting that the allegations she made against him were baseless. Abubakar expressed deep regret for the distress her statements had caused not only to Apostle Suleman but also to his wife, Dr. Lizzy Suleman, and the Omega Fire Ministries. This apology followed the court ruling, where Abubakar was ordered to pay ₦10 million in damages for defamation. She acknowledged her wrongdoing and sought forgiveness, emphasizing that her past actions were a result of misguided decisions.
