Amanda Holden disclosed that she is “completely covered in bum butter” as she prepares for a significant cycling challenge, which will take her from Cornwall to London.
Heart Breakfast presenter Amanda Holden, 53, is set to begin her 250-mile cycling challenge on Monday, spending approximately six hours a day on the road. Speaking on Sunday, she revealed that she’s well-prepared with a supply of “bum butter” to prevent saddle sores, joking that her friends have been continuously sending it to her.
Amanda Holden also humorously remarked that by the end of the week, she’ll be “as ripped as Davina McCall” due to burning through 15,000 calories a day during the challenge. In an interview with The Sun’s Bizarre column, the radio host shared, “I’ve got padded gussets and bum butter, but that’s just every day for me. I’d never heard of bum butter before, but now I have so many varieties.”
Amanda added, “We estimate we’ll be burning 15,000 calories a day. I’ve still got a Saganaki tummy from my holiday in Corfu, so I’m doing this for charity—and for weight loss. I’ll be like Davina McCall when I get back, I’ll be ripped.”
In preparation for the challenge, Amanda shared that she has been “taking it easy” all week. “My poor little feet, I’ve even had a pedicure to get them ready. At the end of each day, I’ll be putting them into a bucket of iced water while sipping on a mojito,” she joked.
The 250-mile cycling journey aims to raise funds for Global’s Make Some Noise campaign.
Last week, during her radio show, Amanda practiced by riding an exercise bike in stilettos and a glamorous outfit. The ITV star previously expressed her desire to have a basket on the front of her bike, saying, “I want a shopper with a basket and a gel saddle because if I want to stop for snacks at the local Spar in Bude, I’ll be doing that.”
Amanda also humorously noted, “I’m going to need snacks for energy. But as I’m cycling, my thighs are hitting my tummy flab, so at least I can knead away the flab with my own thighs!”
Amanda will embark on a five-day cycling journey from Bude, Cornwall to the Heart Studios in Leicester Square, covering over 250 miles with six hours of cycling each day. Beginning her challenge on October 7 in Cornwall, she will cycle through Somerset, Berkshire, Wiltshire, and Surrey before reaching Heart HQ in London’s Leicester Square on October 11.
Although no stranger to tough challenges—having completed the Three Peaks Challenge, a 10,000-foot skydive, and climbing to the top of Blackpool Tower for Global’s Make Some Noise—Amanda’s “big ride to work” will be her longest and farthest cycling challenge to date.
