The body of Hannah Lynch, the missing daughter of Mike Lynch, has been recovered from the wreckage of the Bayesian superyacht and brought ashore. This recovery follows the sinking of the vessel, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals. In response to the incident, Italian authorities have initiated a manslaughter investigation.
The body of Hannah Lynch, the missing daughter of Mike Lynch, has been recovered from the wreckage of her father’s superyacht and brought ashore, as Italian authorities commence a manslaughter investigation into the sinking. The 18-year-old student was the sixth and final missing person after the £30 million vessel sank on Monday during a severe storm off the coast of Sicily. The incident has now claimed seven lives, including that of the ship’s chef, Recaldo Thomas.
In accordance with local tradition, the bells of the Porticello church, Santa Maria del Lume, rang out as a mark of respect when the fire brigade launch, with its lights flashing, departed for the dive site to recover her body, just as they had for the previous victims.
Shortly after midday local time, a body bag was observed being loaded onto the dive platform at the rear of a fire brigade launch, positioned above the site where the superyacht sank. The launch then proceeded on a slow, solemn journey back to shore.
The Bayesian capsized during a ‘victory trip’ intended to celebrate Dr. Mike Lynch’s acquittal on fraud charges in the United States. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of his business partner, Jonathan Bloomer, 70, his wife Judy, 71, as well as Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo, 59, and his wife Neda, 57.
Italian authorities have now initiated an investigation into the shipwreck, encompassing multiple counts of culpable homicide, analogous to the charge of manslaughter under UK law. Hannah Lynch, a pupil at Latymer Upper School in West London, had secured a place at Oxford University to study English Literature.
