Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, has been sentenced to a custodial term of three months for violations of his probation, which included charges related to controlled substance possession and assault. The 29-year-old artist, who has been on probation since 2020 following his cooperation in a racketeering case involving the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, was previously released conditionally during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Court proceedings revealed that Hernandez pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and ecstasy and admitted to an assault incident in a public setting. The sentencing judge noted that probation violations require custodial consequences but applied leniency in setting the report date for January 6, 2026. Federal authorities previously conducted a search of Hernandez’s Florida residence, resulting in the seizure of firearms and controlled substances.
Separately, Hernandez drew public attention for comments regarding singer Demi Lovato, referencing her past substance use. Lovato, who experienced a near-fatal overdose in 2018, is now fully sober. Hernandez later clarified to media outlets that his remarks were intended as dark humor. Both parties’ representatives were contacted for comment at the time.
Hernandez has a history of legal issues, including prior convictions for racketeering, drug trafficking, and weapons charges, as well as additional incidents in 2024, when he was released on bond after a Dominican Republic court determined insufficient evidence to detain him following a domestic violence arrest.#newsafro_
