Congresswoman Nancy Mace is acknowledging that her push for transparency around the so-called Epstein files may have come at a political cost — including the loss of a key endorsement in her upcoming election.
In a recent post on X, Mace reacted after former President Donald Trump endorsed her Republican primary opponent, South Carolina Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette. While Mace did not directly criticize Trump, she made clear she believes her stance on the issue played a role in the decision.
Mace said she understands the political consequences but insisted she had to pursue the matter anyway, arguing that voters deserve full transparency regarding the Epstein-related documents. She also framed her comments around broader claims of political corruption in the state system, saying she remains committed to “draining the swamp.”
Referring to the controversy, Mace wrote that she knew pushing for access to the Epstein files could hurt her chances of receiving an endorsement, but added she would “never pay” that price if it meant backing away from the issue.
Her comments came shortly after Trump publicly backed Evette on Truth Social, a move that could significantly impact the Republican primary. Trump endorsements have historically carried weight in GOP races, and early polling suggests Mace is trailing other candidates, including Evette.
The situation adds another layer of tension to an already competitive race as Mace continues to lean into her messaging on accountability and transparency while facing a well-backed challenger.#newsafro_
