Chris Brown’s security supervisor has testified that he personally gave the singer’s former housekeeper nearly $40,000 after she was allegedly attacked by one of Brown’s dogs, according to newly revealed deposition testimony tied to the ongoing civil lawsuit.
Emil Lewis, who works as Brown’s security supervisor, said during a deposition that he handed Maria Avila and her family between $30,000 and $40,000 in cash and personal checks around Christmas 2020. Lewis claimed the payments were made because he felt sorry for the family, while also insisting he never discussed the matter with Brown.
Avila is currently suing Brown for $90 million, accusing the singer of being responsible for severe injuries she allegedly suffered during the reported dog attack. The lawsuit includes graphic photos of the injuries she claims were caused by the incident.
Court filings submitted earlier this month show Avila is trying to block Brown’s legal team from mentioning the payments during trial. Her attorneys argue the money does not prove whether the attack happened or determine who should be held liable.
Brown’s side, however, argues the payments are important evidence, claiming Lewis’ actions suggest an acknowledgment of responsibility connected to the alleged attack.
A judge has not yet decided whether the testimony about the payments will be allowed in court. The trial is currently scheduled to begin on June 15.#newsafro_
