Andre Berto believes fans shouldn’t expect a dramatic showdown when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao reportedly meet again later this year.
Speaking about the highly anticipated rematch, Berto said he expects the fight to play out much like their first 2015 clash — more strategic than explosive. While both boxing legends remain massive draws, Berto admitted neither fighter is in their prime anymore, making another action-packed classic unlikely.
Still, he believes the event will attract plenty of attention because Pacquiao is eager to finally get a win over Mayweather after losing their first meeting in Las Vegas.
Despite Pacquiao staying active in boxing while Mayweather has largely remained retired, Berto says he’s still giving the advantage to Floyd. According to him, Mayweather’s ring IQ, experience, and undefeated mindset continue to separate him from everyone else.
Berto also suggested Mayweather putting his perfect record on the line again is what makes the rematch intriguing for fans — though he doesn’t expect Floyd’s unbeaten streak to end after the bout.#newsafro_
