Lakers superstar Luka Dončić has ended his engagement to Anamaria Goltes, citing his ongoing fight to be with their daughters in the U.S. as a major factor. Speaking to ESPN on Tuesday, Doncic said, “I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement.”
“Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness, and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can,” he added.
The couple’s relationship, which began in 2016, led to an engagement on July 7, 2023. They share two daughters: Gabriela, born on November 30, 2023, and Olivia, born on December 4, 2025. Doncic traveled to Slovenia for the birth of their youngest child.
Documents obtained by TMZ Sports show that Goltes recently filed for child support for their two minor children. The petition does not seek custody but requests child support and attorney fees. According to the documents, Goltes moved back to Slovenia in May of last year, with the children remaining there since, including their newborn. It is unclear why Goltes filed the petition, though it may be to formalize arrangements in American courts.
Sources say Doncic was unaware of Goltes’ filing. Reports also note that disagreements arose last December when he sought to bring their newborn to the U.S., prompting a police visit, though no criminal offense was found.
Doncć, 27, was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2025 as part of a blockbuster deal involving Anthony Davis, having previously led the Dallas Mavericks to an NBA Finals appearance.
Both sides have been contacted for comment, but no response has been provided at this time.#newsafro_
