The Senate race had been a hard-fought contest in Texas, but when the dust settled, the campaign led by Jasmine Crockett had fallen short.
Campaign records later revealed how the money had flowed during the race. Between December and February, Crockett’s campaign reported $8.57 million in total receipts, including $3.68 million in individual donations. During that same period, the campaign spent about $5.09 million on expenses, along with $17,297 in contribution refunds.
A closer look at the spending showed where much of the money went. More than $275,000 was paid to a firm called True Blue Digital for advertising. Over $200,000 went toward text message outreach to potential voters, while $40,000 was spent on consultants helping shape the campaign strategy. Other costs included $20,000 for website services, $6,000 for media production, and $10,000 for printed materials.
There were also smaller but notable expenses along the way—$1,200 for catering, $1,800 for security services, and $528 spent on a dinner at the upscale Texas restaurant Winsome Prime.
Despite the spending and effort, Crockett ultimately lost the Democratic primary to her opponent, James Talarico. Financially, the difference between the two campaigns was striking. Talarico’s campaign brought in more than $20.6 million in receipts and spent around $15.8 million, including $1 million dedicated to digital fundraising efforts.
When the campaign finally closed its books, Crockett still had about $3.48 million in cash on hand—a reminder of a race that demanded enormous resources but ended without the victory she had hoped for.#newsafro_
