It is hereby reported that Ms. Olivia Yacé, national representative of Côte d’Ivoire and recipient of the continental title for Africa and Oceania at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant, has formally resigned from her title. The resignation was tendered on Monday via a statement published on her official Facebook account, citing her commitment to personal values and professional integrity.
Ms. Yacé stated that her decision to relinquish the title is motivated by the necessity to preserve the principles guiding her personal and professional conduct, following the conclusion of the Miss Universe 2025 finale held in Bangkok.
In her statement, Ms. Yacé reflected on her tenure as Côte d’Ivoire’s representative, noting:
“I have demonstrated the capacity to achieve significant accomplishments despite challenges. The competition tested my strength, determination, and readiness to confront adversity.”
Notwithstanding these achievements, she indicated that continuation in her role requires alignment with her foundational values. She emphasized the necessity of adherence to her guiding principles of respect, dignity, excellence, and equal opportunity, which she asserts are incompatible with the ongoing obligations of the title.
Accordingly, Ms. Yacé formally announced her withdrawal from the position of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, as well as any future association with the Miss Universe Organization. She further articulated that while her participation in pageantry has been characterized by discipline and purpose, she no longer deems it possible to fully realize her potential within the parameters of the title.
Ms. Yacé reaffirmed her long-standing mission to serve as a role model for younger generations, particularly in empowering young girls to enter spaces where they may be underrepresented and to embrace their identities confidently. She concluded that her resignation will allow her to dedicate herself entirely to the advocacy and defense of her core values.
In her statement, Ms. Yacé additionally extended a message of unity and encouragement to Black and African-descendant communities globally, urging continued engagement in spaces where their presence may be unexpected, and emphasizing the importance of amplifying their voices. She also offered congratulations to the newly crowned Miss Universe and extended well wishes for the recovery of Miss Universe Jamaica.
Ms. Yacé expressed gratitude for the support received and concluded with an affirmation of her commitment to her future endeavors:
“I deeply appreciate the support I have received and the experiences that have shaped me. I now embark on a new journey with unwavering determination to uplift and inspire. Thank you to all who have been part of this exceptional adventure. IT’S TIME FOR AFRICA.”
The resignation follows a Miss Universe 2025 pageant characterized by public disputes, allegations regarding judging transparency, stage incidents, and a viral confrontation involving the eventual winner, Ms. Fátima Bosch of Mexico. Ms. Yacé was one of four continental queens recognized at the finale, alongside Ms. Julia Ann Cluett (Malta, Europe & Middle East), Ms. Zhaona Zena (China, Asia), and Ms. Stephany Abasali (Venezuela, Americas).
Her departure is anticipated to prompt ongoing discourse concerning transparency, contestant welfare, and evolving standards within international pageantry.#newsafro_
