Actress Blake Lively has asserted, through her legal representatives, that she has suffered losses amounting to approximately $161 million as a result of an alleged defamatory and retaliatory campaign purportedly orchestrated by her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.
According to filings reviewed by Variety, counsel for Ms. Lively, aged 38, disclosed that the total estimated losses comprise multiple components, including $56.2 million in past and future lost earnings, derived from her various professional capacities as an actress, producer, spokesperson, and public speaker.
The disclosure further identifies two of Ms. Lively’s business ventures as having sustained significant financial harm allegedly due to Mr. Baldoni’s conduct. Her beauty brand, Blake Brown, reportedly incurred losses of approximately $49 million, while her beverage line, Betty Buzz/Betty Booze, allegedly depreciated in value by an estimated $22 million.
In addition, Ms. Lively’s legal team contends that the widespread online hostility and adverse publicity directed toward her—allegedly instigated by Mr. Baldoni and his associates—have caused no less than $34 million in reputational damage, supported by data reflecting more than 65 million negative online impressions linked to the controversy. Counsel indicated that these figures are preliminary and subject to further expert analysis as litigation progresses.
The filing also lists several prominent entertainment industry figures who may be called as witnesses, including Taylor Swift, Emily Blunt, Scooter Braun, Hugh Jackman, Gigi Hadid, and Ari Emanuel, among others.
The underlying dispute arises from a lawsuit initiated by Ms. Lively in December of the previous year, in which she accused Mr. Baldoni of sexual harassment, retaliatory behavior, and intentional infliction of emotional distress during and after the production of It Ends With Us. The actress alleged that Mr. Baldoni engaged in various forms of misconduct, including body shaming and the orchestration of a public smear campaign designed to undermine her professional standing.
Mr. Baldoni has categorically denied all allegations. The film, released in August of the preceding year, was both a domestic and international box office success, grossing approximately $148 million domestically and $350 million globally. However, the production’s commercial achievements have been overshadowed by ongoing legal disputes and public controversy.
In response, Mr. Baldoni previously initiated a $400 million lawsuit—which incorporated an initial $250 million claim—against Ms. Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane, citing an allegedly defamatory report published by The New York Times. That action was dismissed by the court in June.
All parties involved have denied the allegations asserted against them.#newsafro_
