Jennifer Aniston has opened up about a surprising spiritual connection she shares with Hollywood legend Shirley MacLaine.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday, the Morning Show star, 56, recalled that MacLaine once told her they were related in another lifetime.
“She believes that we were a mother and daughter in a previous lifetime, and I think it’s why we had such an instant bond,” Aniston explained. “She’s just fantastic.”
The revelation came after the two actresses — who co-starred in the 2005 romantic comedy Rumor Has It — participated in a past-life regression retreat together in New Mexico.
MacLaine, 90, has long spoken about her belief in reincarnation and past lives. Over the years, she has described visions of herself as a harem girl in Turkey, a performer in ancient times, and a Muslim gypsy in Spain. She has even claimed to have once lived in the fabled city of Atlantis millions of years ago.
Jennifer Aniston had an emotional moment on The Drew Barrymore Show when Shirley MacLaine, her former co-star in Rumor Has It, surprised her with a call.
“Hi Drew and hi Jen, it’s so great to see you there,” the 90-year-old Oscar winner said warmly. “I just wanted to tell you, Jen, I’ll never forget how professional you were during the time we were making Rumor Has It. You were really wonderful to work with. I want to tell you congratulations from 20 years ago.”
Clearly touched, Aniston, 56, was visibly emotional: “Oh my god, that really was a… that’s a surprise.”
When Barrymore asked what made her so moved, Aniston opened up about a deeply personal memory connected to MacLaine.
“I was with her when my dog passed away,” she said tearfully. “I was at her ranch in New Mexico doing a past life regression retreat. Which sounds crazy when I say it like that. Are you worried about me because I’m crying? I’m talking about my dog Norman… oh my gosh.”
The Friends alum, who is currently dating wellness expert Jim Curtis, also revealed she hopes to team up with Barrymore on screen one day.
“We’re gonna do something,” Aniston promised. Barrymore quickly added: “You, me, and Adam [Sandler] — I’m still looking for it.”
Aniston enthusiastically interrupted with a suggestion: “Come on. Death Becomes Her.”
Barrymore replied: “I would literally change my life to go do a movie with you and Adam. Nothing would be a better time.”
Aniston went on to share another career dream: stepping onto Broadway.
“When I saw Annie for the first time, I thought, ‘Oh God, what it would be to be able to be on Broadway,’” she said. “Of course I would love to. The theater community is sacred, so I would be honored if I were invited into it.”#newsafro_
